Sally LaPointe Spring 2016

by Daniel Chivu

“I started with the idea of being both an introvert and an extrovert,” Sally LaPointe told The Daily backstage. “I feel that as humans, you’re not black or white, so I became obsessed with this gray area.”  As a result, contrasts of mixed materials like transparent vinyl juxtaposed to a neutral color palette with unexpected pops of red made for some mega eye-candy on the runway. Par exemple, the final look: a silver sequined dress topped off with a red trench coat with beaded sleeves. Also new in the collection? Denim. “It’s like a waxed-coated woven fabric that’s supposed to look like denim,” said LaPointe. “I did this in structured jackets and shirts to keep it unexpected instead of creating just a pair of jeans. I did denim my way.” And Sally’s way is more than okay for us.
