Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s Unveil Their Fabulous Holiday Windows

It’s that time of year, again. Shops across the city are unveiling their most ornate window displays of the year with lavish ceremonies and star-studded parties. Check out some of the highlights from the past week, including Idina Menzel performing at Saks and John Legend at Bloomingdale’s.

Saks Fifth Avenue and Disney Unveil Frozen 2 Windows for The Holidays
Before revealing the Frozen 2 themed Saks windows on Monday night, Idina Menzel (aka Adele Dazeem) sang a few songs including “We Need A Little Christmas” outside of Saks Fifth Avenue. Seeing Elsa in the flesh were guests such as Carolyn Murphy, Coco Rocha, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, and Chanel Iman.

The evening also featured a dazzling theatrical light show on the facade of Saks and a performance by dancers and characters from the Frozen 2. In addition to the windows, the store is hosting an immersive activation on the 9th Floor, Disney’s Frozen 2 Enchanted Forest Experience at Saks through December 24th.

John Legend Performs at Bloomingdale’s Holiday Window Unveiling 
On Friday, November 22, Bloomingdale’s unveiled their “Out of This World Windows” at their Lexington Avenue store in Manhattan on Friday night. The futuristic windows include flying saucers, robots, and a preview of a home of the future powered by Google. Visitors are able to press a button on the outside of the window, which will active the Google product with language such as “Hey Google, turn on the fire,” “Hey Google, turn on the tree!” and “Hey Google, turn on the lights.” The window will then come to life with the designated command.

John Legend (aka The Sexiest Man Alive) was on hand to sing a few songs from his first Christmas Album, A Legendary Christmas: The Deluxe Edition.

Bergdorf Goodman Gets a Bird’s Eye View on Holiday 2019
On Thursday, November 21, Bergdorf Goodman hosted a private cocktail event to celebrate the debut of the latest iconic holiday windows: “Bergdorf GoodTimes.” The spectacular installation evokes the time-honored spirit of holiday fête, but with a twist, with each window capturing a different and unexpected scene of revelry, celebration, and indulgent fantasy. The 2019 window themes include Winner Take AllWild CardJackpot!Game NightQueen’s GambitUp The Down Escalator, and Scavenger Hunt. Conceived by David Hoey, Senior Director of Visual Presentation and longtime window dresser at Bergdorf Goodman, and his team of artisans, the windows span a range of mediums, including neon, Italian mosaic tile, needlecraft, soft sculpture, custom painted finishes, and embellished surfaces, to deliver a dazzling visual experience.
