Prediction: balaclavas are going to be huge amongst the perpetually-papped celebrity set.
Rihanna went incognito at this weekend’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival, slipping on a printed Gucci balaclava from Alessandro Michele’s fall 2018 outing.
The knit mask clung to her skin and covered up most of her face and so the makeup, of course, was eye-centric. The singer jazzed up her peepers with some glitter-encrusted eyelids, applied expertly by her longtime makeup artist Priscilla Ono. Ono documented the look on his Instagram channel, captioning the post with “drip drip💎 eye focus”.
The rest of the look was also Gucci (most of it from the same runway look as her headpiece), with the singer showcasing her head-to-toe look on her Instagram. Only someone as gutsy and badass as the original BadGal could pull off a look this major. It’s haute bank robber realness.
This isn’t even the first Gucci-made, face-obscuring piece Rihanna has worn to the Coachella festivities — last year she worked a similar look (albeit, not a balaclava), sporting a rhinstone-encrusted body stocking from Alessandro Michele’s fall 2017 collection. She also shared that ensemble on her Instagram captioning the shot “phresh out” — likely a reference to the fact that the piece was fresh from the runway show staged just weeks earlier. Logistically speaking, the look seems like a lot of work (how do you even put it on? Can you drink or eat while wearing it? How does the whole bathroom trip thing work?) but we admire her commitment. She truly is a bad gal.
