Resort 2015: Carolina Herrera

Carolina Herrera Resort 2015

A clean, fresh take on feminine: welcome to Carolina Herrera’s vision for Resort. The pared-down pieces were ground in neutrals, rife with the types of midnight blues and B&W prints that actually get closet mileage (…again and again and again). A particularly minimalist cream day-apropos ensemble felt sharp (and innately wearable), with a pencil skirt and softly rounded coat, a silhouette combo that surfaced a couple times throughout the collection, which utilized materials like lightweight cashmere and embellished silks. Lace and florals were mostly done sans color; thus, large blooms on a tailored pair of shorts didn’t overwhelm thanks to the all-neutrals color scheme. But a showing by Mrs. Herrera isn’t complete without a tasteful flash or two of drama, but the full-length frocks (one in a sea green hue, splashed with massive rouge and blue flora; the rest in black and white) kept the clean-cut ethos going, avoiding any hint of the fussy or prissy.
