Lifestyle website Refinery29 has appointed Lisa Clunie as their new chief operating officer. Clunie will be responsible not only for putting infrastructure in place at the company; she’ll also be in charge of building Refinery29’s internal culture and developing talent. Previously, Clunie had been the director of creative management for North America at Ogilvy & Mather since 2011, where she oversaw strategic planning, workflow, resource management, HR, and budget and margin for the creative product across the board at the advertising, marketing, and public relations agency. Clunie’s resume also includes work as managing director in Saatchi & Saatchi New York’s creative department.

“The supremacy of digital and millennial culture has allowed us to rewrite the rules in digital media and I’m thrilled to be joining a company that has cornered the market leading this shift in such a big way,” said Clunie in a press statement. “I’ve always been a fan of Refinery’s approach to content and distribution and I look forward to joining their vibrant team and to further solidify their position as the leading voice of millenial women.” Clunie will be based in Refinery29’s New York City headquarters; she will begin her new role on Monday, March 30th.
