Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2017

Spring has sprung at Ralph Lauren! Last night, guests arrived at the Ralph Lauren townhouse on 888 Madison Avenue to a magnificent display of greenery and orchids that covered every inch of wall in the venue. The Ralph Lauren visual team had clearly been hard at work and it paid off. The effect was not only an uplifting, refreshing, and altogether fragrant sensorial experience, it also set a beautiful stage for the Spring 2017 collection. The display will remain for the next few days for VIP clients  while they get first dibs on the collection.

One has to wonder why Ralph Lauren has shown on Washington Street for so many seasons when the best venue is in his own backyard. What better way to show Ralph’s penchant for classicism? It breathed new life into his perennial styles and made the safari-themed clothing, caftans, off-white blazers, knits, moto leather, and iridescent gowns feel fresh again. The latter were particularly spectacular as they descended the white staircase, especially Grace Bol in a regal purple caped gown. And while Kendall Jenner donned a light khaki blazer and Bella Hadid an orange poncho, it was Mica Argañaraz’s finale floral gown worn with a pair of distressed rolled up jeans that will appeal to their generation. Ditto the leather black jumpsuit on Taylor Hill.

In a time when setting, experience, and atmosphere count for as much as the clothes, this homecoming felt particularly smart.
