Remember the ’90s? Well, Marcus Wainwright and David Neville of Rag & Bone definitely do and they’re aiming to bring it back for Fall. This meant shiny satin numbers lined with lace, like a burnt orange skirt and an oxblood jumpsuit, as well as cross-body messenger bags. We may have some reservations about the return of swishy nylon pants, but in a bright yellow hue they seem like prime street style bait. Besides the strong references to the late 20th century, the collection involved masterful layering; white T-shirts underneath simple tank dresses and cropped trousers underneath a wool zip-front skirt. Also lust-worthy: the outerwear, ranging from a tan trench coat/puffer hybrid to a utilitarian glossy Mackintosh coat with a removable down layer. Following a season or two of designs that were a bit forgettable, it’s nice to see Rag & Bone emerge with a fresh, novel collection that seemed to genuinely pique the interest of their audience chez Spring Studios.
