New York-based label Proenza Schouler is taking its resort 2017 collection abroad with a fashion presentation in Paris on July 4, during haute couture week. The shakeup is thanks to MAC cosmetics, says Business of Fashion, who launched a long-term initiative to back designers who want to expand the reach of their pre-collection presentations. Plus, the Estée Lauder-owned cosmetics company will also provide beauty from senior makeup artist Fatima Thomas—MAC has worked with Proenza Schouler for the past 16 seasons and will be backstage at more than half the shows on the haute couture lineup.
Proenza Schouler isn’t the first American label trying to reach the international press by going global. Public School took its pre-fall collection to Dubai last year, starting what could be a new trend in the fashion calendar shakeup. Another twist with this presentation? No social media allowed—yes, Snapchat included.
Post-show, Moda Operandi co-founder Lauren Santo Domingo will host a party at her Paris home celebrating the designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez‘s collection. A toast will certainly be in order. Cheers!
