Flyaway ribbed sweaters, oversize menswear, micro-pleated skirts, and fussy trenches — welcome to Proenza Schouler’s high-concept take on basics. The square-toed boots were a bold move, but given what’s happening in grandpa-sneaker land these days, they’re hardly surprising. Not our all-time-favorite collection from Jack and Laz — when they go wearable, we usually go wild — but we expect to see some enthusiasm from the PS loyalists.

Changes at NYFW:Men’s
In January, rumors began circulating that the CFDA was planning to pull their sponsorship of NYFW: Men’s.  Last night, the CFDA sent an email to members of the fashion community clarifying the changes coming to NYFW: Men’s.

The CFDA congratulates you and your team on the recent NYFW: Men’s season. Your dedication and hard work continue to help build and sustain a platform for the industry to grow as an international fashion capital.
The NYFW: Men’s S/S 2020 dates will shift a month earlier to June, near the annual CFDA Fashion Awards and before the European collections. Our goal is to better serve the needs of brands and businesses alike. The finalized NYFW: Men’s collection dates will be announced soon.

Anna Sui Wigs Out
Ever wonder what your favorite models would look like with blue hair? Well thanks to Anna Sui’s pop-punk fashion show for Fall 2019, we finally know. Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid, among others, bounced down the runway in retro wigs and bright tights.  “I decided to call this Poptomistic and just go for it,” she told The Daily after the show. ” I made the clothes I love, did the hair I love, play the music I love! Everything I hold back on, I let it all go!” Sure, the patterns, colors, and cuts presented are really just another version of what she does every season, but Sui has a die-hard fanbase that lives for it and no one does vivid maximalism quite like Sui.

Victoria Beckham Announces She Will No Longer Use Exotic Skins (Harper’s Bazaar UK)
There will be one thing missing from Victoria Beckham’s runway during her show in London next week: exotic skins. “Victoria Beckham will cease the use of exotic skins in all collections as of AW19,” the company said in a statement. “The Victoria Beckham brand has never used fur in its clothing or accessories collections and confirmed last year that the brand will remain fur free.”

Dapper Dan Criticized Gucci Over Racist Sweater, Gucci CEO Apologies (Fashionista)
Gucci collaborator Dapper Dan has weighed in on the brand’s recent blackface controversy, vowing to hold the brand accountable. “I am a black man before I am a brand. Another fashion house has gotten it outrageously wrong. There is no excuse or apology that can erase this kind of insult.” Dan went on to say that Gucci’s CEO, Marco Bizzarri, would be flying to Harlem to meet with him and other members of the community.

Meanwhile Bizzarri has released a statement on the matter, apologizing again for the balaclava. “We made a mistake. A big one,” he wrote. “Because of cultural ignorance, but ignorance is not an excuse. And we accept responsibility for this mistake. Yet there is no way of thinking nor believing that this could have ever been intentional.” He also noted that a public apology will be coming from Gucci designer Alessandro Michele soon.

Chiara Ferragni Might Launch a Beauty Line (Elle UK)
During a beauty event in Milan over the weekend influencer Chiara Ferragni hinted that she will drop a beauty product this year. Whether it is a collaboration or a full line is unclear, as Ferragni only referred to the venture as “a surprise.”

Guests — including Grace Coddington, Sebastian Faena, Vanessa Friedman, Doutzen Kroes, Fran Leibovitz, Courtney Love, Paolo Roversi, Valerie Steele, Anna Wintour and more — packed into 10 Corso Como, sipping Perrier Jouet champagne and checking out the online sale of Sozzani’s private clothing collection on YOOX.com. The evening also marked the official announcement of The Franca Sozzani Fund for Preventive Genomics at Harvard Medical School & Brigham and Women’s Hospital, to help prevent diseases by leveraging genomic information and cutting-edge precision medicine. All proceeds from Chaos and Creation and the YOOX sale will go to the fund.
