Prada Spring 2016

by Paige Reddinger

Prada was casting a line this season. The collection was full of linear patterns and coats, dresses, and jackets were all topped off with a netting material. Earrings came as giant orbs that dangled from the models’ ears like buoys. Someone was also missing from the cast this season…Miuccia Prada took a leave of absence due to the passing of her aunt according to Voguerunway.com. Taking over the helm was design director Fabio Zambernardi, but that didn’t take anything away from the Prada je ne sais quoi inherent in all of Miuccia’s collections, which is to say that it was a little off-kilter in a good way. Some of our favorite pieces? A stiff boxy almost 80s-style brown and white striped croc jacket, a yellow and silver stripe coat, a floral paillette white dress coat, and a simple wispy pleated baby blue dress worn over what looked like a plaid skirt. The patent leather striped coats and skirt suits were also winners. Oh, and we’ll take that Mondrian colored look with the sweater vest and wispy yellow striped skirt. We imagine Anna is already placing her order for the striped astrakhan fur coat. We’ll put that on our wish list too.
