Prada Fall 2015

by Paige Reddinger

Bursts of color trotted down Prada’s runway this season in an array of fabrics, including techy foam and tweed, and hints of fur trimmed the ’60s silhouettes. As for the accessories? Gardening gloves came in ostrich skin, and flower pins adorned lapels. Plus, some dresses and coats had patterns that mimicked patio fencing.

The ’60s suits that opened the show in grassy greens and bubble gum pink styled with sky blue and cobalt collared tops beneath and rubbery futuristic chelsea boots packed a punch even in their simplicity. Miuccia Prada is not only a master of grand ideas on her runways, but this season she showed her impeccable eye for color. They styling, we might add, was also impeccable. Tweed deep-v neck pants cropped pant suits were worn over short-sleeve tops with contrasting colors and paired with opera-length gloves. Miuccia revisited some of her off-the-shoulder dresses with a spattering of graphic prints on the skirts or in tweeds adorned with bows. The ostrich pieces stood out like a forest green fully ostrich dress. What could be more luxurious than that, darlings? It was a less complex showing from Miuccia, but it had plenty of visual appeal and we imagine it will do well once it leaves the runway and steps into the real world of the retail stores.
