Paris Couture Fall 2013: Giorgio Armani Prive

by The Daily Front Row

(PARIS) Giorgio Armani Prive
A relative newcomer to the couture scene, Giorgio Armani seems to be settling in just fine. In a trés romantique collection, the designer presented an exceedingly elegant Art Deco-inflected, lavish assortment of champagne-hued separates and gowns in simple silhouettes with pops of fur and feathers. Armani started on a strong foot, partnering a creamy blazer with a timeless A-line skirt, all tied off with dark ankle strap pumps. His chic pantsuits awash in sequins will do well with his more mature set, while sweet swingy gowns with low necklines are apt to make regular appearances on the young crowd at the benefit scene. Just how sweet were the frothy frocks? A sparkly column dress that was offset with pale tulle layers is the chic equivalent of being cavity-provoking, while an artfully crafted lace gown topped off with a gaggle of pearls will satiate even the most picky sartorial sweet tooth. A few new stylish details of note? Belt buckles fashioned from oversized pearls, puffs of black feathers adorning necks, jackets with furry sleeves, delicate evening bags, and (transparency trend alert!) sheer everything. Well done, Mr. Armani.
