(NEW YORK) “I can’t believe that was a true story!” were the words on everybody’s lips last night at the Jimmy at the James Hotel after party for Michael Bay‘s new flick, Pain and Gain. Believe it, darlings! The likes of 50 Cent, Terry Richardson, Carol Alt, Victor Cruz, John Varvatos, David Zinczenko, David Pecker, Reed Krakoff, Olivia Palermo, Carlos Leon, Debbie Bancroft, Cory Bond, and Dan Abrams first hit the Crosby Street Hotel for a screening of the film, hosted by The Cinema Society and Men’s Fitness.
The flick, which hits theaters next Friday, April 26, is the absurd yet true story of a group of personal trainers in Miami circa the nineties who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes sour. (In our humble opinion, this isn’t a suggested route to success.) The film’s star, Mark Wahlberg, answered reporters’ questions about the Boston Marathon tragedy on the red carpet, but skipped the after party at the Jimmy. Guests who rallied further downtown post-screening were seen enjoying Qui cocktails named Qui Pain and Qui Gain. (Note: Hilarious!) Hopefully, the pain and gain factors on the drinks front were kept to a minimum in the process. It was only a Monday, after all…
