After 23 years of business, the “Queen of Prints” has, unfortunately, been dethroned. The UK-based fashion brand Orla Kiely has announced it has terminated operations, effective immediately. The designer reportedly told her staff early Wednesday morning, with the news traveling through word of mouth and no “official email,” according to The Metro

A statement on the brand’s website reads, “Kiely Rowan Plc, the retail and wholesale fashion business of Orla Kiely, has ceased trading as of Monday 17 September 2018. This means our retail stores in London and Kildare and our online business have been closed.” However the statement goes on to say that its selection of accessories and homewares will still be available through the company’s distribution partners.

The brand was started in 1995 by what the designer calls an accident, but the success of the company was anything but. The designs quickly became staples among the likes of Alexa Chung, Kiera Knightly, and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. It’s a sad day for fans.
