UNEMPLOYED Magazine Celebrates Mohammed Bourouissa’s New Short Film
UNEMPLOYED Magazine presented an intimate screening and dinner in celebration of Mohammed Bourouissa’s new short film, Link. Immediately following the screening at Blum and Poe, UNEMPLOYED’s co-founders, Cecile Winckler and Sophie Tabet, hosted a dinner at MIMI in Bourouissa’s honor. Guests included Alexander Skarsgård, Margaret Qualley, Jacquelyn Jablonski, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Luka Sabbat, Collier Schorr, Olmo Schnabel, Grey Sorrenti, and many more.

Blair Eadie Launches a New Holiday Collection at Nordstrom
NYC’s most fashionable influencers gathered to fête the Halogen x Atlantic-Pacific Holiday collection launch at the new Nordstrom NYC Flagship. Blair Eadie, the force behind Atlantic-Pacific and one of our favorite street style stars, greeted customers for a personal styling session, and then hosted a private dinner for friends including Jessica Wang, Katie Sturino, Mary Orton, Sai de Silva, Nicolette Mason, Wendy Nguyen, Olivia Jeannette, Chloe King and many more. With a holiday collection chock full of sequins, stars and shimmer, Eadie’s army of followers will surely give new meaning to the “glitterati” this season.

Barbie x Thierry Lasry Launch Dinner at Scarpetta NYC
Caroline Vreeland, Samantha Angelo, Mariah Strongin, Emmy Rappe, and more joined designer Thierry Lasry to celebrate the launch of his new Barbie collaboration at Scarpetta NYC on Madison Avenue. A private dining room was decorated dolls and sunglasses from the collection and over-the-top floral design by Lutfi Janania. The collection is available now on thierrylasry.com and at Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges, The Webster, and a handful of other select Thierry Lasry retailers. Each collector’s box includes a doll and a pair of sunglasses and retails for $495.

Disney + and The Cinema Society Celebrate Noelle In New York
Last night, Noelle — the new Disney+ holiday film starring Anna Kendrick, Bill Hader, and Kingsley Ben-Adir — premiered in New York. Kendrick, Ben-Adir, and the film’s writer/director Marc Lawrence were on hand to present the movie. Afterwards, guests like Ashley Haas, Alex Lundqvist, and Sophie Sumner headed to The Top of the Standard for a holiday-themed afterparty, complete with hot cider, Christmas music, and carolers.

Molly Sims and Tika Sumpter Take Part In #BlogHer19 Biz
On Saturday, #BlogHer19 Biz was hosted at The Riveter in West LA. The bootcamp for entrepreneurs kicked off with SheKnows & STYLECASTER Editor in Chief, Justine Goodman, speaking with Kate Somerville, who shared how she built her powerhouse skincare brand. Tika Sumpter, star of the new hit ABC comedy, Mixed-ish, spoke to show runner Karen Gist on her gut helping her make the right choices in her career saying, “that alarm inside is telling you something.” 

The day featured insightful talks from a series of successful women including venture capitalist Jesse Draper, Maggie Q, author Nicole Lapin, and more. Molly Sims brought the day of inspiration and information for women founders, content creators and social media influencers to a close with a keynote, citing that perseverance and pivoting have been key to her success as an actress, model, author and philanthropist.

Guess took over the Peppermint Club in West Hollywood for a holiday party. Guests — including Hannah Godwin, Demi Burnett, and Bella Harris, among others — enjoyed cocktails, and a performance by Xian Mikol with her band, Xian Sounds.

The 2019 Emery Awards Honor Amber Heard, Nico Tortorella, and DC Comics
The Hetrick-Martin Institute held its annual fundraiser, The Emery Awards, at Cipriani Wall Street on Wednesday. The ceremony recognizes individuals and organizations who demonstrate outstanding leadership within the LGBTQ community and those who work to address some of the most critical issues affecting HMI youth, including HIV/AIDS prevention, housing and homelessness support, education and health & wellness. This year, honorees included Amber Herd, Nico Tortorella, and DC Comics. The night was hosted by Johnny Weir, and featured a performance by B-52s. Garrett Neff, Leigh Lezark, Susanne Bartsch, and Amanda Lepore were among the many notable attendees.

The Frick Collection Toasts New Show Over Dinner
Paul Arnhold, Wes Gordon, Julia Arnhold, and Lane Gerson hosted a dinner to celebrate Henry Arnhold’s Meissen Palace: Celebrating a Collector. The unparalleled exhibition of Meissen features works from the famed collection of the late Henry H. Arnhold and transforms the Portico Gallery into an 18th-century “porcelain room” showcasing wares from the royal manufactory. After previewing the exhibition, guests — including Martha Stewart and Seth Meyers — donned 18th century-style wigs, and enjoyed dinner by Olivier Cheng and a performance by Julliard musicians.

The We Are Family Foundation Honors Dolly Parton
Nile Rodgers and his not-for-profit organization, the We Are Family Foundation, hosted its annual will host its annual celebration at Hammerstein Ballroom. This year, Dolly Parton was honored with the Mattie J.T. Stepanek Peacemaker Award and Jean Paul Gaultier with the Humanitarian Award. The evening included a performance with Rodgers and the band Chic — a treat for guests like Duckie Thot, Coco Rocha, and Derek Blasberg.

Coach Hosts a Private Screening of Camila Morrone’s New Film
Tuesday night in L.A., Coach supported one of its holiday campaign stars, Camila Morrone, by hosting a screening of her new movie, Mickey and the Bear. The screening was followed by cocktails at the San Vicente Bungalows. Guests — including Naomi Campbell, Gillian Jacobs, and Suki Waterhouse, among others — sipped classic cocktails and enjoyed mini crudités with Morrone and the film’s director, Annabelle Attanasio.

Chanel and the Tribeca Film Institute Celebrate Female Filmmakers
This week, Jane Rosenthal, CEO of Tribeca Enterprises and Paula Weinstein of Tribeca and Chanel hosted the fifth annual luncheon for women filmmakers at Locanda Verde in New York. The event brought together a hundred female leaders in entertainment — including Katie Holmes, Glenn Close, Marisa Tomei, Keke Palmer, and Zazie Beetz, among others — to celebrate their work and the 10 emerging female filmmakers selected for the program.

This year’s program participants include actor Catherine Keener, director Sam Taylor-Johnson, producers Anne Carey and Dede Gardner, director/producers Julie Dash and Lesli Linka Glatter, director/writer/producer Nicole Holofcener, designer Ane Crabtree, editor Sabine Hoffman, composer Laura Karpman, Tribeca Film Institute’s Amy Hobby, and more.

The three-day program was created to discover and empower ten rising filmmakers with project support, master classes, one-on-one mentorship, and peer-to-peer sessions. A total of $100,000 will be awarded to participants for project development and production of their films.

Gucci Helps LACMA Celebrate Its 9th Annual Art+Film Gala
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art hosted its ninth annual Art+Film Gala on Saturday, honoring artist Betye Saar and filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón. Co-chaired by Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio, the evening brought together more than 800 distinguished guests from the worlds of art, film, fashion, and more. This year’s gala raised more than $4.6 million for LACMA’s film initiatives, future exhibitions, acquisitions, and programming.

“We honored two incredibly powerful artistic voices this year,” said Michael Govan, LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg director. “Betye Saar has helped define the genre of Assemblage art for nearly seven decades, and recognition of her as one of the most important and influential artists working today is long overdue. Alfonso Cuarón, one of the great storytellers of our time, is able to bring deep humanity to any story he chooses to portray.”

The evening began with a cocktail reception before moving on to a seated dinner by Joachim Splichal of Patina Restaurant Group. John Legend and Ted Sarandos presented tributes to Saar and Cuarón, respectively. Later, Will Ferrell invited guests to head outdoors, where Billie Eilish introduced performers Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals.

As in previous years, the Gala was supported by Gucci (the majority of attendees — including Saar, Cuarón, .Paak, Eilish, Laura Dern, Ava DuVernay, Greta Gerwig, Regina King, Brie Larson, Salma Hayek Pinault, Zoe Saldana, Yara Shahidi, and Amandla Stenberg, among others — were sporting the brand). Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, was also the gala host committee chair. Additional support was provided by Audi.
