A Night of Espionage At The MoMA For The Premiere Of ‘A Most Wanted Man’

by Alexandra Ilyashov

Last night, a colorful array of A-listers took to MoMA for the emotionally charged premiere of Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions’ A Most Wanted Man, starring the late Philip Seymour Hoffman in his final completed film. The Cinema Society and Montblanc hosted the event, with tapis rouge cameos by the film’s beautiful leading ladies Rachel McAdams and Robin Wright.

The film follows the story of a half-Chechen, half-Russian immigrant who turns up brutally tortured in Hamburg at a time of high alert and high stakes. The struggle lies between German and US security agents, of whom take great interest in the case of this most wanted man in determining his true identity: Is he an extremist out for vengeance or a victim looking to start anew?

Director Anton Corbijn shared his thoughts on the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the film’s release: “I am happy people can pay attention to how great Philip was, but I wish there were many more moments to come where people could see that.”

The audience for this high intensity spy thriller included Mick Jagger, Julianna Margulies and Keith Lieberthal, Grace Coddington, Calvin Klein, Paul Haggis, David Chase, Cynthia Rowley, Pat Cleveland, and Lindsay Ellingson. Afterward, guests headed to the Skylark and sipped on signature Grey Goose cocktails named “Most Wanted Mule” and the “Double Agent.” The entire soirée had everyone begging the question: Which side are you on?
