Last night was filled with NYC staples as New York magazine toasted their 50th Anniversary and the publication of the new book Highbrow, Lowbrow, Brilliant, Despicable: 50 Years of New York at the iconic Katz’s Delicatessen. A slew of prominent New Yorkers came out for the bash, including Linda Fargo, Fern Mallis, Fernando Garcia, Marcus Samuelsson, Joseph Altuzarra, Zachary Quinto, Miles McMillan, Simon Doonan, Hannah Bronfman, Jill Kargman, Charlie Rose and Don Lemon. Katz’s served their famous sandwiches, latkes, and broccoli knish, while glasses were constantly refreshed from a fountain of champagne.
While DJ Spinderella provided tunes for the night, guests branded themselves with New York tattoos and gandered at an amusing lifesize version of the mag’s famous “Approvals Matrix.” Gift bags were provided by Tiffany’s (highbrow and brilliant!), and included a sterling silver bookmark to go along with the dense coffee table book.
