Net-A-Porter Taps Sarah Rutson As VP Of Global Buying

Major hire alert! Net-A-Porter has tapped Sarah Rutson to be their vice president of global buying. Rutson was previously the fashion director at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong for over a decade. She also spent almost four years as the creative director of Style Doctor, but prior to that role she served seven years as the senior fashion buyer for Lane Crawford. In total, Rutson spent 17 years at the Hong Kong luxury retailer.

Now Rutson will be moving to New York for her new role. Rutson will be charged with expanding Net-A-Porter’s global buying and will report to Net-A-Porter president Alison Loehnis. “She has extraordinary global experience, a fantastic track record and an outstanding reputation in the industry.  As we look to further penetrate our core markets and grow our global customer base, our buy will remain a key differentiator,” said Loehnis. “With her years of experience in the luxury fashion business in both Europe and Asia, Sarah is uniquely positioned to lead our global buying team. An area of focus will be on expanding the designers and brands we stock to offer our customer everything she could need – and to continue to inspire her with new choices, new discoveries and the very best in customer service.” Net-A-Porter currently serves over 170 countries and has become a leader in the luxury e-tail realm. As for Ruston’s focus in her own words? “My aim, together with the team, is to bring the magic of the extraordinary into the online fashion experience,” said Rutson. “We want to inspire our customers, provide for their needs, encourage their dreams and take care of them in the best way possible.” Rutson will be begin her new role on January 12th.
