Wow. Just wow. Moncler kicked off Milan Fashion Week early last night, showing not one, but eight full-blown collections full of designer collaborations and some seriously great coats. Remo Ruffini — chairman, CEO, and part-owner of Moncler — titled the collections the “Genius Group,” and, honestly, he’s not wrong. With a designer roster that includes Pierpaolo Piccioli, Craig Green, and Simone Rocha, the Genius Group was bursting with enough original design and intriguing ideas to fill an entire fashion week, let alone the 8 little tents where the collections were shown. The Genius Group is part of a new strategy by Ruffini to address shifting buying patterns in the fashion industry, with each collection scheduled to drop on a different month. That’s a whole lot of Moncler for consumers and retailers to buy into, but with designs this cool and varied, it might just work.
