Michael Kors Is Going Fur Free

by Paige Reddinger

Michael Kors is saying adieu to fur starting in 2018 with production of fur products being phased out by the end of next year. The house joins a number of other brands that have also made the decision to stop using fur including Gucci, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger. Retailers who have chosen not to sell fur include Selfridges, Yoox, and Net-a-Porter. “This decision marks a new chapter as our company continues to evolve its use of innovative materials,” said Michael Kors’ chairman and chief executive, John D. Idol in a statement. Michael Kors added that he will be showcasing new techniques to create non-animal fur during his runway show in February. The new policy will also apply to Jimmy Choo, which Michael Kors acquired in July.
