Menswear 2014: Louis Vuitton

The latest LV looks for the hommes designed by Kim Jones are all about adapting to the lifestyle of a well versed globe trotter. Right away it becomes obvious from look une that this Vuitton man is armed and ready…for train travel. The telltale sign? A leather checkerboard satchel, playfully styled with a printed suit and a casual red bandana in lieu of a standard tie. A pair of plaid short-shorts are ready for a summertime hike in the Alps, complemented by a clashing polo and a leather backpack that will hopefully be equipped with snacks for the trail. The only wares adequate for a trek through a Venezuelan jungle, apparently? Dark blue cargo pants cuffed at the ankle and fastened with a rather serious belt.

A madras blazer and a pair of modest shorts seem like a formidable ensemble for the yacht scene in Miami, while a bandana print tee and barely-there shorts would be right at home along the shores of South Beach. For a petit vacance in Paris, a denim-hued suede jacket will provide warmth during the coolest Spring morning. What does one wear to a five-star French feast? One of the many variations of tuxedos will certainly suffice, but there are simply so many choices! Perhaps the shimmering silver jacket and slightly goofy black bowtie will do the trick, or maybe a simple black-on-black tux is just right. No matter the choice, those glistening silver dress shoes definitely need to be in the mix, non?
