Men’s Health Undergoes Editorial Revamp

by Kristen Heinzinger

Things are looking a bit different with Men’s Health, which unveiled its May issue today. With new sections, features, and a design concept spearheaded by new creative director Mike Schnaidt, the Rodale-owned glossy is planning to “share more, educate more, and bring its reader to the front lines of the content it is covering,” said editor-in-chief Matt Bean. “The role of the magazine has changed in a world overloaded with information, opportunity, and instant social media updates. He desires insightful information and shared experiences, not just recommendations.” To wit: sections including Unfiltered, which features photography concentrating on one topic (this month, it’s 18 athletes who competed in the Wodapalooza fitness event), The Exchange, which takes cues from online readers with sidebars like “Text a Doctor” and “20-Second Solution,” and Useful Stuff, a revamped section that shares advice in a modern self-help way.

Other things to devour in the May issue are the 2017 Performance Gear Awards, a guide to suit style, and a feature on Game of Thrones actor Hafthor Bjornsson. Scoop up a copy at newsstands or peruse the digital version here.
