What’s the most offensive beach attire around? We were curious so we asked a few designers and guys-about-town to weigh in!
Zang Toi: “To own the tightest swimming trunks is offensive.”
Olivier Theyskens: “I like to watch people at the beach. It’s definitely a place where you don’t know what milieu everyone is from, people are just swimming naked. The beach is a place where we come a little bit closer to being animals.”
Jonathan Cheban: “For me, it’s always the mankini. It’s supposed to be a short bathing suit, but there’s a curve where it crosses the line to a ‘kini’ and I’m very, very uncomfortable. I think I just coined that term, it’s what I do.”
Wes Gordon: “I can never wear flip flops.”
Bibhu Mohapatra: “That Eighties one piece thing that goes really high. I think Borat wore it. I’d run away if I saw someone wearing it. It’s not sexy, and it can’t be comfortable.”
Brian Mazza: “Trunks that go a foot past your knee. You should really go home!”
