The month of August has finally arrived. While cozy sweaters and nubby coats are right around the corner, there’s still plenty of time to continue stocking up your bikini collection. Take a page from chic label Seilenna, created by Annelies De Rouck, who thinks you should infuse your remaining beach days with bold color and strong silhouettes. It’s time to dive in, darlings!

Tell us all about the brand’s DNA, please!
We offer clean and sophisticated swimwear, cover-ups and accessories for stylish city girls who don’t want to give up their sharp sense of style on the beach. We focus on fit, quality, and a sense of luxury; all colors and prints are custom made and we work with the softest and strongest Italian fabrics. The collection is mix-and-match and all tops and bottoms are sold separately.

How long has the label been around?
I started working on Seilenna in the spring of 2013 and showed the first collection in a below-the-radar way in New York and Paris in September, during fashion week. This will be the second season and the first time that we are doing PR and sales in a more organized way.

Where is each suit made?
The pattern making and sampling is done in the South of France and production is in Mauritius.

What’s the color story behind this season’s collection?
We have rich solid colors as well as feminine and playful hand-drawn prints created in collaboration with Parisian fashion illustrator Coco.

Where’s your favorite place to don a swimsuit?
Upstate New York, by a private swimming pool, testing out Seilenna pieces with a bunch of girlfriends.

What does the name Seilenna mean?
It’s my first name, Annelies, written backwards!
