What inspired the decision to team up with Altuzarra on this project?
It started with the gingham shirt dress from Altuzarra’s SS15 collection, which we couldn’t keep in stock. We wanted to offer a second chance to all of our customers who missed out on this dress the first time around, so we sat down with Joseph [Altuzarra] and came up with the idea of creating a shirt dress capsule collection of his greatest hits. Drawing inspiration from Altuzarra’s extensive archives, we have recreated the shirt dress in a variety of silhouettes and fabrics—striped silks and chiffon—that are perfect to wear now.
What do your customers like best from his collection?
Altuzarra offers a modern feminine aesthetic that has universal appeal. The shirt dress in its many guises has become a signature of his and always does incredibly well for us—this season’s Kyoto style has been the standout highlight.
What’s your favourite piece in the capsule?
I love the Keiran ticking stripe dress. The fabric is from Joseph’s SS14 collection, which was one of my favourites, and the classic short-sleeve shirt dress is the perfect addition to any summer work wear wardrobe.
What’s your Dallas schedule looking like?
We are launching this capsule collection in Dallas with a series of intimate events culminating in a trunk show at the Rosewood mansion hotel on Thursday, April 28 and Friday, April 29, where clients can come view the collection alongside an edit from our vacation and event dressing studios and meet our private shopping team. Simultaneously, we are launching a digital trunk show on MatchesFashion.com, introducing the capsule live to a global audience where viewers can watch Joseph talk through the collection and ask him questions via our social media channels. This is the first in a series of digital trunk shows, and we are incredibly excited to see the response as we make our physical events digital.
