Martha Nelson Named Yahoo’s Global EIC

by Kristen Heinzinger
Accomplished editor, brand innovator, and media veteran Martha Nelson joins Yahoo as global editor in chief, effective August 17th. Nelson—who was the founding editor of InStyle and was largely responsible for growing People and People.com into a globally recognized brand—will help continue to expand Yahoo’s digital magazines, which launched in January.

Most recently, Nelson was the first female editor-in-chief of Time Inc., where she oversaw the editorial content for its 21 brands. During her industry tenure, she has been named “Editor of the Year” by Adweek and made Forbes Most Powerful Women list three years in a row. She’s a trustee of both the National Trust for Historic Preservation and The Actors Fund, and serves as a judge for the Peabody Awards. She departed Time in late 2013.

Nelson will join Yahoo’s New York City office, and reports directly to Kathy Savitt, CEO and head of media.
