The eye-popping graphics in Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida’s collection this season were inspired by Malian photographer Malick SidibĂ©âs black-and-white images of ’60s culture in Bamako, Mali. The photographs featured stylish Malians in mostly intricate prints set against striped or checked backdrops. SidibĂ© passed away in April of last year. Marques ‘ Almeida’s interpretation of the famous black-and-white photography was infused with pops of color like a velvety pink flamingo ruffled skirt, an oversized red and black striped jacket, or oversized canary yellow dresses and coats. The brand’s street-style savvy clientele will be more than pleased with a full collection of pieces made for the camera.
