Marissa Webb Fall 2015

by Daniel Chivu

“Everyone always wants to hear about a new inspiration, but I’m doing my same themes of menswear inspired pieces mixed with feminine pieces,” said Marissa Webb backstage before her show for her eponymous collection. There’s nothing wrong with sticking to a very specific DNA; look where that’s taken Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani. That being said, Webb sent out pieces like a strapless gingham dress with buttons worn over wide-leg pants and a black button-down and tie. That look is now recognizably Webb, without having to glance at a label. There were some great black and white overcoats, a chic but simple grey top that tied at the waist with matching wide leg pants, and a must-have bubblegum pink sleeveless vest. Webb is hard at work this season and wearing many hats in her role as a designer for her own label and beyond. So how was she faring? “I almost wore my Mad Hatter top hat to the show today!” said Webb. “I plan to relax on a spa retreat in California with Alyssa Milano in the Spring.” Much deserved!
