Closing Paris Fashion Week, Louis Vuitton made it official: the biggest trend to emerge from the Fall collections is streetwear. As usual, Nicolas Ghesquière‘s woman is one badass babe. (Case in point: his muse Kristen Stewart.) The coolest pieces were the cropped and coated shiny leather pants worn with combat boots and sporty ribbed t-shirt dresses and a skin-tight jumpsuit.
The details on a black leather zip vest worn by Mica Arganaraz were reminiscent of the details on the gladiator heels that Ghesquière first made famous on Balenciaga’s Spring 2008 runway. The stiff peplum tops could be interpreted as another nod to his Balenciaga collections that continue to be replicated on runways far and wide (sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse). For Fall, Ghesquiere reinvented his dressed up sweatshirt look in mohair—a look he was playing around with as far back as Fall 2012. He’s not repeating himself, though—he’s just riffing on smart ideas that have since emerged as modern fashion requisites.
