Loewe Creates Summer Capsule Collection with Paula’s Boutique in Ibiza

by Kristen Heinzinger

Loewe is gearing up to release a one-of-a-kind collaboration, and just in time for summer. It’s teamed up with Paula’s Ibiza, the boutique and cult shopping spot in the 1980s and ’90s that was the epitome of the city’s lifestyle in the ’70s and beyond, with its playful, flower-filled interior and fashionable happenings frequented by locals, hippies, and intellectuals. Familiar faces who frequented the shop included Donna Summer, Freddie Mercury, Valentino, and renowned artists, actors, and aristocrats. Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson first came across the shop as a kid, and for the Spring Summer ’17 collab, he used prints from Paula’s archive and adapted designs from some of the boutique’s best-selling pieces. Bags, hats, necklaces, tops, dresses, and more are emblazoned with Paula’s prints like musicians, birds, flowers, and more, and come in bright, fun colors like saffron and turquoise. Loewe’s classics, like the Puzzle bag and T Pouch, are reimagined in prints and colors, like a parrot motif.

To tout the capsule, Loewe is printing a limited-edition publication featuring an essay about the boutique and images shot by Jamie Hawkesworth at the farmhouse and Ibiza apartment of Paula’s founder, Armin Heinemann.

The Loewe Paula’s Ibiza collection launches April 28 at loewe.com and Matchesfashion.com and lands in Bergdorf Goodman in NYC on May 8. This is not one to miss!
