Ann Taylor creative director Lisa Axelson debuted her Winter collection this week, and it was full of wearable looks. As always, Axelson had plenty of stellar outerwear like a maroon leather jacket, a leopard print high-collared three quarter sleeved coat, or a stunning white shearling coat with black leather trim. Plus, there were easy winter looks like black leather pants paired with an oversized knit sweater that zipped in a diagonal near the hips for a comfy yet cool vibe. There were embellished knit tops worn over white button downs paired with slim black pants, and leather skirts came quilted or ruffled. For evening, there fun party frocks that ran the gamut from classic uptown attire to downtown party girl attire, like a black sequined mini dress with a white collar and black bow that looked like the kind of thing Hedi Slimane‘s girls would don, but bearing price tags most 20-somethings can actually afford. Topping off the evening looks was a sexy and sophisticated number that included a black long-sleeved chiffon top that tied at the neck and was worn tucked into a belted floor-length skirt with a very high slit up the front. The collection had all the elements we’ve come to expect from Axelson: plenty of work-appropriate pieces with just enough edge and fashion-forward thinking that both Ann Taylor’s regular mall clientele and fashion fanatics alike can appreciate at a price point that won’t break the bank.
