Harper’s Bazaar executive editor Laura Brown has been named EIC at InStyle, replacing Ariel Foxman, who departed Time Inc. a month ago. The Aussie editor has been at Harper’s Bazaar for over 10 years, and was the mastermind behind some of the glossy’s most epic features, including that Jaws-dropping Rihanna cover.

Beginning August 29, she will oversee the editorial operations and content in the style, beauty, and celebrity categories, according to a press release.

“Taking the lead of such an iconic brand is a dream come true,” Brown said in a statement. “InStyle is at the forefront of celebrity, beauty, fashion and popular culture—areas I’ve loved weaving together throughout my career. There are so many exciting opportunities to grow the brand across all platforms. I can’t wait to get started.”

With her dynamic point of view, collaborative spirit and deep expertise in fashion and celebrity, Laura will be an exciting and transformative force for InStyle,” said Jess Cagle, editorial director for the celebrity, entertainment and style group. “Her rich experience combined with her profound storytelling skills across print, digital, video and television will take this powerful brand to even greater heights.”

The news follows the departure of publisher Patrick Connors, who was replaced by former Maxim publisher Kevin Martinez last week.
