Rumors continue to swirl that Kathy Griffin will fill Joan River’s role on E’s Fashion Police when the show resumes. Last week, Melissa Rivers said the show would go on without her mother, but didn’t mention any new cast members joining the panel, which currently includes Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, and George Kotsiopoulos. Inside sources tell The Daily Mail that Griffin has the gig if she wants it, saying: “Kathy will probably take the position but they are still working out the deal.” They also reveal that Melissa, the show’s executive producer, supports Griffin joining the cast. The Emmy award-winning My Life on the D-List star is no stranger to fashion critique, having hosted E’s red carpet award show coverage, where she was ultimately fired after making a joke about then 11-year-old Dakota Fanning entering rehab. She and Rivers were longtime friends, and Griffin tweeted after her she death: “A legend, a friend, a mentor, and wildly funny. One of a kind. RIP.’ She has denied reports that she wants to join the show, telling Larry King recently: “I would never take Joan’s job.” Fashion Police is set to return with new episodes in January.
