kate spade New York Finally Opens Uptown

by The Daily Front Row

On Thursday night, a fashionable crowd of uptown and downtown types gathered at kate spade’s new Madison Avenue flagship to get a preview of the four-story townhouse, which opened to the public on Friday. The bright and preppy merchandise and décor of the store (think Barbie’s Dream House!) brought a colorful emporium to the neighborhood. “I’m so excited! [Fifth & Pacific’s] Bill [McComb] promised me this on my very first day and it’s finally here!” creative director Deborah Lloyd said. “I’m so happy to bring the brand uptown. The design, the art, and all of the bows…I could move in here.” So many categories of merchandise are showcased in the new digs: iPhone cases, jewelry, ready-to-wear, shoes (Carrie Bradshaw would make room in her closet for those incredible holographic pumps), eyewear, fragrances, bridal, and more. For those who prefer exclusivity in their wardrobes, kate spade released the Madison Collection, which is unique to the store. Up the lavish gold and white stairs to the top floor rests a VIP salon overlooking the UES, furnished with comfy couches in girly pink hues (what else?) and spacious dressing rooms that make for an extra chic shopping experience. Welcome to the ‘hood, kate spade New York!
