“An icon is someone whose name can literally be passed on through different generations,” Hailey Baldwin told The Daily on the red carpet at Harper’s Bazaar annual Icons celebration last night at The Plaza Hotel. “Christy Turtlington, Cindy Crawford. They may not have been the supermodels of our generation, but we still look up to them, and still look pack on their work, and we think they are absolutely incredibly.” Hailey arrived on the arm of her fellow icons in the making, Bella and Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, all of whom made a pitstop on the red carpet to snap a selfie in the Samsung selfie wall.
The crowd assembled by Carine Roitfeld, who in addition to her own mag serves as Harper’s Bazaar’s international fashion editor, included almost all of the icons selected for the spread shot by photographer Jean-Paul Goude. The magazine’s cover girl, Katy Perry, provided the evening’s entertainment with a 5-song live performance in the hotel’s grand ballroom. “I know it feels like spring right now,” she said wearing a butterfly head piece and a dress resembled a pile of leaves. “But I have to remind you all it’s fall.” Other notables included Glenda Bailey, Mariah Carey, Jeremy Scott, Bella Thorne, Jaden Smith Kiernan Shipka, Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Lucky Blue, Kate Upton, Ciara, Rita Ora, Doutzen Kroes, Hilary Rhoda, Anna Cleveland, and Kiernan Shipka who hung on the arms of Ronan Farrow and Bazaar editor Laura Brown. The Mad Men starlet jokingly referring to the pair as her parents throughout the evening. Instagram celeb Joshua Ostrovsky, also known as @TheFatJewish, made a surprise shirtless appearance too. “Shirts are a burden. I just refuse. With this Shrek body in this Indian summer, I just can’t handle it,” he said candidly. Night owls partied on to Marquee when midnight struck.
