Julien Klausner has just been named the new creative director of Dries Van Noten. Klausner has been at the brand since 2018, where he led the brand’s womenswear. As shared in a statement on Instagram , the industry will get its first glimpse of Klausner’s new role with his Winter 2025 menswear lookbook in January. His first womenswear runway show will be held on March 5, 2025, during Paris Fashion Week.

“I am beyond thrilled to oversee the upcoming seasons as we begin the next chapter for this house,” Klausner said in the statement. “The incomparable legacy that Dries is leaving behind is monumental, serving as an endless source of precious inspiration. I look forward to embarking on new ambitious challenges while honouring the heritage we all cherish.”

Klausner’s appointment notably makes him Van Noten’s second-ever creative director, following Van Noten’s exit from his namesake label in June. Previously, Van Noten broke the news in March, with his final collection for Spring 2025 menswear hitting the runway in June. The brand’s Spring 2025 womenswear collection, presented in October, was designed by its in-house team and well-received by the fashion media.

“I have complete confidence in Julian’s creativity and vision,” Van Noten shared in the same statement. “He is not only a talented designer, but also a clear choice to take over after my departure. His deep understanding of the brand and its values will ensure a seamless transition and a bright future.”

Klausner’s new gig makes him the latest new designer appointment in recent weeks. 2024’s widespread creative director shuffle has seen numerous appointments and exits throughout the year, affecting brands both independent and established. Most recently, the “new guard” of creative directors has included Michael Rider at Celine, Sarah Burton at Givenchy, Adrian Appiolaza at Moschino, Alessandro Michele at Valentino, Veronica Leoni at Calvin Klein Collection, David Koma at Blumarine, Alberto Caliri at Missoni, and Haider Ackermann at both Canada Goose and Tom Ford. We look forward to seeing what he dreams up—and what hits the runway—next spring!
