Isabel Marant Spring 2015

by Alexandra Ilyashov

What will Isabel Marant‘s cool girl acolytes be clamoring for come Spring? Short hems (prime those gams accordingly) and new riffs on fringe and pleats were the looks that trotted down the runway at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. A light touch was employed on myriad knits, and those saucy noir micropleat minis should fly off shelves (Marant donned one to take her bow). Rope belts knotted off to the side and wide, often pleated leather cinchers made for ultra-flattering silhouettes.

There was a bit of a beachy vibe with casual day pants done in an eyelet cut-outs, mini skirts that looked like they were made from hula skirt material like rafia, and poncho tops with shell embellishments. In fact, the invite came wrapped in a shell bracelet. These were clothes that girls want to go out in and lounge in. Per usual chez Marant, it will sell to PYTs that want to look sexy, stylish, and hip, which is an image that French women like Marant seem to cultivate and exude with the utmost of ease. Oh, and another sure sign of what type of girl is on the hunt for Marant? Lucky’s EIC Eva Chen (who is six months pregnant), went straight from touching down off her flight to perch front row and check out next seasons “it” items at Isabel Marant. Now that’s dedication, darlings.
