People who love sports often find a way to engage with, or at least be around, their favourite game. Some players as they age and grow turn from active playing to commentating, others open coaching institutes, whilst some, in homage to the times we live in, turn towards celebrating sports, digital style. Zhi Ko has been a part of the world of sports in most of these capacities. A former D1 tennis player and now a successful gaming influencer and a digital marketing expert, Zhi has helped create a massive esports community through his ventures.
Zhi has an amazing social media presence. His online name, Nekotek, has over 10.4K followers on Instagram and over 368K followers on his TikTok channel. He uses his channels to share his passion and knowledge about sports. He says, “I love to share my knowledge. It keeps me in touch with my passion and helps others gain quick insights on sports that they might be personally interested in.” Talking about his process and how he pursues his passion, he adds, “Esports help me stretch the limits of my mind and make me think outside the box. As an enthusiast, I resonate with the requirements and demands of other gamers. In a way, I do the hard work for them, so all they do is sit back, relax and enjoy their favorite games in the best possible manner. To enable this, I use and illustrate the pros and cons of some of the most popular gaming consoles, graphics, game app stores and more. As my target audience is mostly in the 18-34 age demographic, my job is to keep things relatable, agile, and up-to-date, just as I like it.”
His precise and consistent commentary on e-games and related products have found him a ready community of seekers. Talking about his growing influence, he says, “I love the fact that people are interested in what I have to say. I think it’s primarily because I don’t take sides when it comes to making product judgment. Gamers are a tight-knit group no matter where in the world they might be. This collective love and passion for online games has only grown louder as technology is serving us better graphics, better moves than ever before. People like to expand their expertise.
