From a deep passion for pearls to a commitment to timeless craftsmanship, one designer has found a way to merge beauty, elegance, and personal expression through jewelry. Adorn Pili, founded by Pilar Raviraj, is the result of this vision—offering pieces that celebrate tradition while embracing modern sensibilities. With a focus on ethical sourcing and exquisite craftsmanship, each creation is designed to stand the test of time, providing a refined complement to contemporary style. In this interview, we dive into the journey behind Adorn Pili, exploring the designer’s creative process, her approach to luxury jewelry, and what sets her brand apart in today’s ever-evolving market.
What inspired you to create Adorn Pili, and how did the journey begin?
After working as a womenswear designer for a few years I was exhausted with the way the industry ran. You’re expected to produce an immense amount of designs, and it takes so long to see the final product. Much like the majority of society today, I have a very short attention span. With jewelry design I can have an idea in the morning and by the afternoon have a finished final product in my hand. Jewelry is usually the final touch to a look, and can tie an entire outfit together. I love filling that void with my pieces and from there Adorn Pili was born.
Can you share how you source your pearls, and what criteria do you use to ensure quality?
Our pearls are sourced ethically from responsible suppliers across the world. We make sure that all pearls used in our jewelry are at minimum AAA grade to ensure that brilliant luster and shine. We hand select each pearl before it is integrated into one of our pieces to ensure the most stunning final product.
Where do you draw inspiration for your jewelry designs, and how does that reflect your brand’s identity?
Since I was a little girl I’ve had my nose in fashion magazines and have been obsessed with the latest editorials. This really helped shape my taste level and love for unique pieces. I pull inspiration from my travels, vintage jewelry, and visiting museums. This allows me to pull the finest details from the past and create contemporary designs for women today.
Do the pearls you use have any special meanings or stories that resonate with your brand?
Pearls have been used as a beautiful way to adorn oneself for thousands of years. Some of our pearls that we use take up to 4 years to form, like our Gloria Pearl Cross necklace, as well as our Gloria and Sophia earrings. This motif was always present in my home and life growing up and has always represented a great source of comfort for me.
Can you share some of your favorite pieces from the current collection and what makes them special?
I have a lot of fun with creating unique designs that compliment different looks. Our Nora and Raine earrings are some of my favorites, both surprisingly lightweight and balanced. You also can’t go wrong with our Sydney or Thea earrings, the pearls have such a beautiful luster and shine to them.
What is the core mission of Adorn Pili, and how do you strive to empower your customers through your designs?
I believe the jewelry we buy today should always be relevant in our lives and wardrobe. Each of our pieces should feel contemporary forever. My goal is to create a jewelry box full of favorites to be shared and passed on for generations.
What are your long-term goals for Adorn Pili, and how do you envision its growth in the coming years?
In the upcoming years I can’t wait to expand our 14k Solid Gold collections and begin to offer rings too, I’ve had my eye on some designs for a while! We’re mostly online, however we know how important it is for customers to see and feel our jewelry in person so we’re slowly expanding our retail footprint by partnering with a range of boutiques across the US. Thinking into the future, I’d love Adorn Pili to become a household name, known for our refreshing designs, beautiful pearls and the go-to brand for a special gift or a timeless piece for yourself.
