Stærk Christensen Kicks Off With A Starry Weekend at Dorado Beach

by Eddie Roche

Coachella wasn’t the only event in town this past weekend. A more adult crowd hit Dorado Beach, Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Puerto Rico for the launch of Stærk Christensen, the chic resort line founded by Helena Christensen and Camilla Stærk. The two collaborators along with Daniel Benedict flew friends and fashion journalists to the extraordinary luxury property for a weekend of activities, meals, and a first look at the collection, which will be sold exclusively at the Dorado Beach and eventually on their website.

The weekend kicked off Friday night where guests Adrien Brody, Brooke Shields, Malin Akerman, Carolyn Murphy, Maye Musk, Waris Ahluwalia, Georgina Chapman, Elettra Wiedemann, Caleb Lane, Alexandra Agoston, Chris Colls, Alina Baikova, Kate Lanphear, Samantha Barry, Lilah Ramzi, Greg Calejo, and Andrew Saffir hit the Positivo Sand Bar, the properties open-air restaurant for cocktails and a family style dinner of Asian cuisine.

On Saturday afternoon guests headed to the ocean front Encanto Beach Club Bar to peruse the gorgeous Staerk Christensen line. The beachwear collection features peplum skirts, bathing suits and accessories such as sunglasses and sandals. “Last year I visited Dorado Beach for the first time and fell in love with the magic of Dorado Beach and the island of Puerto Rico,” Christensen explained.  “I witnessed some of the immense recovery that has been undertaken in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria and even though there’s still a long way to go, the beauty of the island and the warmth of the people shone through everywhere I went. It was humbling to see how hard they have worked to bring their island back to its original splendor and I was inspired to do something to help, bringing recognition back to Puerto Rico and its people. We’re honored to be helping, even in our small way, in the recovery movement.”

Later that evening the group reconvened at Su Casa, the property’s gorgeous five-bedroom Spanish colonial-style villa for cocktails. The home was originally the casa to the prominent Livingston family with the Rockefeller family later calling it home, and can now be used for a vacation rental for 10-12 guests or corporate events, weddings, and large gatherings.

After drinks at Su Casa, the Stærk Christensen crew hopped into to golf carts for dinner under the stars at Coa with vino courtesy of Rudd Estate Wines. The gang also celebrated the birthdays of Georgina Chapman and Adrien Brody. (Chapman, for the record, is looking better than ever.)

On Sunday before the group departed, Christensen and photographer Chris Colls had an impromptu re-creation on the beach of her iconic appearance in Chris Isaak’s 1997 “Wicked Game” video. Wicked fun.
