NBD! Harper’s Bazaar Took Over The Empire State Building for a Night

by Eddie Roche

You only turn 150 once and Harper’s Bazaar celebrated its anniversary with an epic (and we mean EPIC!) bash at The Rainbow Room last night. The glossy teamed with two other iconic names, Tiffany & Co. and the Empire State Building, on a public art exhibition on the north side of the most famous building in Manhattan. Images from Bazaar’s archives were projected on the Empire State Building for the entire city to view from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. The exhibition was a partnership with Obscura Digital—a creative technology studio—and spanned 42 stories of the building’s facade.

Bazaar was the first magazine dedicated to fashion and the pictures that have appeared in its pages—by the most important photographers, artists and illustrators of the modern era—tell the story of not just the evolution of fashion but of the larger world that has surrounded it,” longtime EIC Glenda Bailey remarked.
