The stars aligned in Soho yesterday thanks to a delicious and fashion-fueled luncheon hosted by handbag designer Ella McHugh and astrologer-to-the-stars Ophira Edut of the AstroTwins. Laduree Soho made for the parfait setting to preview McHugh’s latest range for Spring/Summer 2017, which was on display next to color-coordinating macaroon statuettes. “I was inspired by the allure of Côte d’Azur,” the designer told us. “Conjured from the Belles Rives of the Riviera, from Antibes to Cannes, my handbags are meant to evoke art deco decadence and the angles of ’60s modernism.” Naturally, Parisian vibes were in full effect. In addition to returning styles updated with new colors and fabrics, the designer introduced two pieces to put on your radar: the Jackie and Jackie II clutches embossed with striking hardware and rendered in floral hand-painted python, silver, and blue textured lamb as well as a fuchsia and blue python combo. As always, McHugh’s designs embody all-things classic and glamorous, but with a twist that keeps her designs consistently fresh and lust-worthy.
Post lunching on a menu of salmon with grilled vegetables, butternut squash risotto, and of course platters of macaroons and Parisian pastries, guests enjoyed private readings with Edut, who, for the record, assured us that 2017 is going to be a great one.
