How Handbag Designer Gelareh Mizrahi Is Capitalizing on “The Selfie”

by Kristen Heinzinger

Handbag designer Gelareh Mizrahi doesn’t take a traditional approach to her business–she traded in the conventional ad for word of mouth and street style stars’ support—so it’s no surprise that her latest collection takes an out-of-the-box direction. Enter the “Selfie” range of clutches, a collaboration with UK-based illustrator Angelica Hicks that transforms a customer’s “selfie” into a handbag—”portable portraits for the portable generation,” in the words of Hicks. Selfie bags that have already been produced? Karl Lagerfeld, Eva Chen, and blogger duo and twins Cailli and Sam BeckermanFor your own selfie clutch, email your pic to Gelareh@GelarehMizrahi.com.

In other news, Mizrahi’s newly launched Stoned collection of python clutches has exclusively landed at Barneys. Think: french fries, burgers, and a blood-shot eyeball—they’re each priced at $595 and can be ordered HERE.
