Hamptons Shop Talk: Milly

by Dena Silver

While the initial draw of the Hamptons might be picturesque beaches and pristine summer homes, the East End has undoubtedly become a go-to shopping destination. With world-class boutiques situated next to Mom-and-Pop retailers, you could easily spend an entire weekend perusing Main Street in East Hampton or Jobs Lane in Southampton and beyond. So, The Daily Summer went to town chatting with the chicest boutique’s gatekeepers, aka the sales girls and boys, to see what’s happening on the shopping front. Can you blame us for snagging a few summer must-haves in the process? This time around, we stopped by Milly, at 54 Main Street in East Hampton, where we met Cori Polesello. She showed us the chicest summer goodies in stock…

What’s your favorite part about working in the Hamptons?
The beaches!

What part of the store is your favorite?
Our display windows! I love watching women stopping in their tracks to check out the windows.

What’s the most unexpected item that you sell?
We recently began selling Milly nail polish in colors that coordinate with the collection–everyone loves them.

Have you ever worked alongside Michelle Smith?
I haven’t had the pleasure yet!

Where do you take your lunch break?
Herrick Park, which is located behind town. It has lots of sunshine and lush green grass.

What’s your favorite restaurant out East?
Fresh Hamptons. It’s a three-minute walk from my house in Bridgehampton. They only use local organic produce, meats, and wines.

What shoes do you wear to get through the day?
If I’m not in my wedges, I’m in a pair of nude ballet flats. Simple but still professional!

Which place around here has the best after-work cocktails?
The Blue Parrot has the best margaritas in the Hamptons.  It’s located across the street from our store here in East Hampton.

What’s your Saturday night haunt?
You can find me at The American Hotel.  It’s one of the oldest hotels in the country. You never know who you’ll end up having a conversation with.  It’s always a good time!

What’s the most Hamptons-y thing about you?
My wardrobe.  I have looks for any and every occasion that arises.
