Hamptons Shop Talk: Jennifer Miller

While the initial draw of the Hamptons might be picturesque beaches and pristine summer homes, the East End has undoubtedly become a go-to shopping destination. With world-class boutiques situated next to mom-and-pop retailers, you could easily spend an entire weekend perusing Main Street in East Hampton or Jobs Lane in Southampton and beyond. So, The Daily Summer went to town chatting with the chicest boutique’s gatekeepers, aka the sales girls and boys, to see what’s happening on the shopping front. Can you blame us for snagging a few summer must-haves in the process? This time, we popped by Jennifer Miller’s Southampton boutique, located at 28 Jobs Lane…

Who chooses the baubles that are stocked in-shop?
We work with so many different designers and get new pieces each week, because Jennifer Miller and Mark Ehret, our owners, are always buying new things. They just went to Vegas and bought a bunch of great stuff! They also design their own pieces, so we’re always getting new stuff, every single week. We do have staple items some pieces we carry all the time, but not everything is the same.

Do Jennifer and Mark pop by the store regularly?
Yeah, they’re in the store every weekend. Jennifer always works with customers when she’s here and Mark works in East Hampton. It’s great because they’re very active and involved in the company.

What’s your personal jewelry preference?
It depends on what I’m wearing and what my mood is for the day. Sometimes I wear turquoise and bright colors, and sometimes I like to keep it simple and on the neutral side.

Do any notable names shop here?
We work a lot with the Real Housewives of New York; they wear a lot of our jewels on their show!

Where are your after-work haunts?
Normally we just stick around here;  we’ll go to the Southampton Publick House or we’ll head to the Blue Parrot in East Hampton.
