Hal Rubenstein's New HSN Line

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Hal Rubenstein seems to define multi-tasking: the editor is adding designer to his resume, as he unveils an eponymous apparel and footwear collection for HSN. As a founding editor of InStyle, Rubenstein has been with the mag for its 19 years of existence, but recently has stepped back a bit into an editor-at-large role. Simultaneously, he consults for brands such as Coach, Giorgio Armani, American Express, and Neiman Marcus. In addition to his consulting gigs, Rubenstein’s philanthropic work includes One Heartland, Live Out Loud, and Standing Tall.

As a close friend of Anne Martin Vachon, the chief merchandising officer for HSN, the longtime editor has been approached to create a line over the years, but seems to finally be in the right place to fully focus on designing a collection. Looking towards the strong women who raised Rubenstein (his sister, mother and grandmother), the designs will highlight the strengths of every woman. Don’t expect a fashion show, though; this is bound to be a strictly small screen and e-comm sort of fashion arrangement. Rubenstein’s new ventures beyond InStyle will also include an editorial website, not affiliated with HSN, HalRubenstein.com, which returns to his editorial roots. Expect a mix of articles on everything from “Haute Hal” to “Hungry Hal,” running the gamut from high fashion to savory food and everything in between.
