Green With Envy: Garden Inspo From Frederico Azevedo

by Charles Manning

Each week throughout the summer, The Daily will be highlighting one stunning garden view from award winning landscape designer Frederico Azevedo, owner of Unlimited Earth Care, Inc. Let the beauty of his creations wash over you and get inspired to go digging in the dirt yourself this summer.

“This curving border is designed to contour the landscape in a way that feels soft, while still commanding attention,” says Azevedo. “What’s important here is an intentional variety of textures, colors, and shapes; I used a combination of flowering trees and shrubs, and a mix of perennial and annual flowers to create a natural feeling border with depth. It’s about gently blending colors and moods: the reds and yellows bring a bright light that’s diffused by the pastel pinks and purples, while deeper reds and greens pull the other colors forward. The overall effect is natural, but elevated—a fantasy.”

Born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in 1962, Frederico Azevedo has studied landscape design in Brazil, England, and the U.S. and is a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, the American Horticultural Society, and the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons. His latest book, Bloom: The Luminous Gardens of Frederico Azevedo, is available now at Pointedleafpress.com and on Amazon.
