Glam4Good Takes Over Texas to Support Hurricane Harvey Victims

by Sydney Sadick

Glam4Good headed to Texas last weekend to restore wardrobes and beauty essentials for women and their families devastated by Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas. The event, sponsored by Dee and Tommy Hilfiger, along with Macy’s and Marchon Eyewear, was hosted by the Houston-based women’s fashion and accessories retailer Charming Charlie at its global headquarters, where women shopped brands at the #ShoppingSpree4Free like H&M, Calvin Klein, Aldo, Stila, Victoria’s Secret, J.Crew, Rachel Roy, and more. “This GLAM4GOOD emergency relief event helped to replace the clothing, makeup and beauty essentials that our recipients lost in Hurricane Harvey and provided a dignified, compassionate and uplifting atmosphere that empowered educators from the Houston community as they prepare themselves and their families to go back to work and school,” said Mary Alice Stephenson, founder of GLAM4GOOD. “We are honored and humbled by the generosity of our partners and donors who make it possible for us to host these critical relief events.”

GLAM4GOOD celebrity stylist/ influencer Tai Beauchamp, model Jason Cameron and local volunteers, as well as local Charming Charlie employees and Macy’s MyStylist personal shoppers, were on hand to assist these special customers in selecting items that create stylish looks to impart confidence and replace items lost. Each of the special shoppers received a $100 Macy’s promo-gift-card as well as makeover at the pop-up “Macy’s Beauty Bar.”

VSP Global also participated in the event by bringing its “Eyes of Hope” mobile eye care clinic to provide free eye exams and prescription glasses onset at no cost to those who lost or damaged their glasses. “It means so much to our educators…who give their all to their kids. To have just a few hours that they can forget about the fact that their home is in shambles and that they lost most of their things – probably their school as well – and put a smile back on their face, is tremendously important,” said Zeph Capo, president of the Houston Federation of Teachers.

The recipients of this GLAM4GOOD emergency aid initiative were vetted by the Texas American Federation of Teachers and are educators and public servants who have experienced water damage/loss or have experienced total loss of personal property. These recipients, women ages 24 to 65, came from 15 different school districts, representing Central Houston within an 80-mile radius around Houston.
