Givenchy Fall 2015

by Paige Reddinger

Victorian chola. How’s that for inspiration? Riccardo Tisci sent out an incredible collection of gothic yet romantic pieces. There were dresses with subtle crosses sewn on the chest, stunning corseted coats, tailcoats, and lush velvet dresses. The latter category’s winning look was a sapphire blue dress with an openwork bodice. Leather coats had fur tails on the zippers, while peacock prints found their way onto ruched dresses. A figure of Pan adorned a ruffled slit skirt and a jacket (iconography always being a recurring theme in Tisci collections). But the hair and facial jewelry added another bold element to the collection. Models wore slicked and parted hair with braids and kiss curls on their foreheads. Giant septum rings, some of which will be for sale, and big stick-on jewels decorated their faces. Earrings were big statement-makers, worn with ear cuffs and other jeweled accoutrements. The unusual inspiration gave birth to a uniquely divine collection that was every bit as statement-making as the jewelry.
