Gigi Hadid’s Major TV Gig

by Eddie Roche

Woohoo! Gigi Hadid has just landed a major gig to add to her never-ending resume. Dick Clark Productions and ABC announced today that the 21-year-old will co-host the 2016 American Music Awards with SNL’s Jay Pharoah on November 20. The show will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and include performances by Fifth Harmony, Lady Gaga, Green Day, John Legend, Bruno Mars, Shawn Mendes, Twenty One Pilots, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj, with “The American Music Award of Merit” going to Sting. Hadid is the topic of other news today, after Tommy Hilfiger told Yahoo Style’s Joe Zee about putting the mod in a poncho at a 2015 runway show to cover her body. Not so fast: The designer released a statement to Entertainment Tonight to clear up the misunderstanding. “Gigi is truly the definition of a ‘Tommy Girl’—her magnetic personality is bright, confident, and always optimistic,” he said. “I’ve known her for many years, and am extremely proud to have her as the ambassador of my brand and as a collaborator of our collections. Any statement to the contrary is completely false. The headline from the interview with Yahoo was misleading and has since been corrected.”
